Intra-Line Granularity

Move beyond line-level diffs. Word and character level engines pinpoint the exact phrases, variables, or punctuation changes.

Universal Git Patch

Download or copy unified diff patches directly compatible with standard developer tooling like `git apply` and `patch`.

100% Private Execution

All text parsing and diff algorithms run locally on your device. Proprietary code, tokens, and texts remain completely private.

Diff Comparison Tips

Word vs. Character Granularity

Use 'Word' diff for prose, Markdown, and conversational text. Switch to 'Character' diff when inspecting single-letter typos, UUIDs, hashes, or code variable renames.

Ignore Whitespace Toggle

Enable 'Ignore Whitespace' when comparing indented code or formatted JSON where only logic differences matter and indentation changes create visual noise.

Standard Git Patch Export

The 'Copy Unified Patch' button exports a RFC-compliant patch that can be applied directly using standard command line tools like `git apply` or `patch`.

100% Client-Side Privacy

Diff comparisons execute locally in your browser memory. Neither your confidential documents, proprietary code, nor credentials are sent over any network.

How it works?

1

Paste or Upload Texts

Enter your original text in the left pane and the modified text in the right pane, or drag-and-drop plain text, Markdown, or code files directly into either side.

2

Choose Diff Mode & Granularity

Toggle between side-by-side split view or unified inline view. Switch granularities between line-by-line, word-level, or character-by-character precision.

3

Inspect & Export Results

Examine color-coded additions, deletions, and intra-line adjustments. Copy the standard unified diff patch or download it as a .diff file for your repository.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Text Diff Checker compare two texts?

Our diff engine utilizes the industry-standard Myers diff algorithm via jsdiff. It computes longest common subsequences to detect additions, deletions, line shifts, and granular intra-line word/character changes.

What is the difference between Split View and Unified View?

Split View displays two synchronized side-by-side columns (Original vs. Modified) ideal for visual code reviews. Unified View merges all modifications into a single sequential list prefixed with + and -, matching standard git diff outputs.

Can I apply the exported patch to my git repository?

Yes! Click 'Download .patch' or 'Copy Patch'. The exported patch follows the standard unified diff format (RFC 5646 / POSIX patch) and can be directly applied with `git apply changes.patch` or the `patch -p1` CLI tool.

Is my proprietary code or confidential text uploaded to any server?

No. Everything runs strictly in-memory inside your web browser. Neither your text snippets, uploaded code files, nor diff results are ever transmitted across the internet.
